About the restaurant: Local restaurateurs Michael Lo and George Yu (Taiyo Ramen and other operations) grew up in their parents' restaurants, where the American take on Chinese food was the order of the day.

Likes: Chili oil daubed house-made wontons, a signature dish for all of this team's operations.
Dislikes: Ice cream spot Dairy Bar that shares space closes at 9 p.m., meaning you won't have dessert if you arrived late.

Food & Drinks: At Double Dragon, the pair has elevated Chinese American cuisine by using fresh ingredients that are locally produced for such comfort fare as vegetable chop suey and vegetable lo mein. We like to start with the "Sichuan" boiled peanuts; the kitchen infuses this Southern treat with Chinese seasonings. Wonton soup benefits from a properly made chicken stock. The popular chili oil wontons stuffed with pork and shrimp served at the duo’s flagship venue, the aforementioned Taiyo Ramen, are here. But selections such as chicken and broccoli and Mongolian beef star. Braised pork belly needed more flavor. Some people who are familiar with Chinese fast food may be put off by the pricing; the Mongolian beef is $16, for example, and it's not the most expensive dish on the menu. Decent wines are available, but the craft beers and good tea may make better pairings. The small space shares room with Dairy Bar, serving soft-serve ice cream, but it closes at 9 p.m., so bear that in mind if you want a sweet conclusion.
