Double Happiness Restaurant Review

: Double Happiness is a longstanding Del Mar eatery for quick and consistently prepared Szechuan and Mandarin Chinese food. In no way gourmet or even authentic, Double Happiness is the place to go when you are in the mood for greasy indulgence---and we mean this in a good way. It’s ideal for families; the meal for six could feed several more (think late-night munchies), and includes a sizzling platter of shrimp and scallops, sweet-and-sour shrimp, orange peel-flavored beef, Szechuan chicken, crispy duck and the vegetarian Buddha’s delight for one all-inclusive price. Smaller groups (say, of two, three, four or five) also have collective choices, and the staff seems flexible about substitutions. The extensive menu also includes American-Chinese standards such as egg rolls, kung pao chicken and shrimp with lobster sauce. Even the vegetarian dishes delight with mushroom and bamboo shoots and vegetable chow mein. The dessert list is basically limited to ice cream, but these generously portioned meals will fill you up anyway.
