This unlikely source for good French pastry and bread is situated in a simple white clapboard house just outside of Marietta. Owner Luc Beaudet got to know America while baking for La Madeleine, and with his wife, Danielle, opened a bakery in this tiny house. Beaudet built the wholesale business, the house was renovated, and the pair opened a retail operation. A carousel showcase twirls incessantly, displaying its tempting contents, just as one might see in France. At breakfast, omelets, with a choice of cheeses, hash brown potatoes à la française, authentic baguettes and sweet cream butter, quiches and croques made with croissants are so good you'll want to return for the blanquette de veau and chicken in puff pastry at lunch. Good French roast coffee completes this experience. You'll want to take home a couple of croissants for the next day's breakfast.
