THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED D's Seafood, Jerk & More Restaurant Review:
The smiling chef at D’s serves a different audience on Sundays when double doors swing open to an adjacent space and the place becomes a church. There’s a kind of salvation in his simple but savory cooking, too. Jerk chicken wings make for an auspicious start (check out the alligator “wings” when they’re available); the gumbos all have distinct personalities; fried catfish is as Southern-comfortable as it comes; and grilled spicy shrimp offer a tangy take on the country’s favorite crustacean. We also recommend the jerk pork, a slow-cooked and fall-apart feast served with effusive coconut rice studded with pineapple. Service is as friendly as the food, and if sweet potato pie is on the dessert menu, don’t hesitate a heartbeat. Hallelujahs are appropriate.
