It's a bold move by the owners of Dupont Thai to open an Asian restaurant in the heart of San Francisco's Italian neighborhood. Although they may have an uphill battle, they are armed with a good menu and an even better cook, who happens to be Hispanic. Start with the fish cakes, served with a chunky cucumber salad. Another refreshing winner is the shredded green papaya salad with peanuts, green beans, tomato, lime juice and palm sugar. Mussamun curry traditionally made with beef inexplicably comes with chicken, pork or shrimp. This hearty curry with chunks of potatoes and peanuts is best made with beef. There is no better finale than the sticky rice with mango.
