| With its sun-kissed patio and shelf of borrowable books, this little café at the corner of Canon Perdido and De La Vina (hence the name) is a popular spot for lingering lunches. To be sure, the ambient setting is part of the draw. But thankfully, the food is pleasing as well. Though authentic deli fare such as the Reuben sandwich is available, we recommend California classics like the Cobb salad, or the “sunshine” sandwich, a vegetarian mélange of cucumber, avocado, tomato, red onion, carrots and sprouts on whole-wheat bread. Cheeseburgers and tri-tip sandwiches join grilled salmon and green salads on the menu, while cream cheese and a dollop of ranch dressing keep the sunshine sandwich from drying up completely. Soups are made in-house daily, and specials range from American comfort food like chicken potpie to a seared ahi sandwich with wasabi mayonnaise. |
