Earl of Sandwich Restaurant Review: John Montagu, the Earl of Sandwich, is credited with inventing the sandwich in 1762, and he would no doubt feel right at home in the casino restaurant named for him. The fitting location, a few steps from the resort's race and sports book, was well planned. An ardent gambler known to play card games all day, he found a way to have his quick bite by putting meat inside two pieces of bread. The Original 1792 sandwich created with roast beef and cheddar with horseradish sauce is among 15 hot sandwiches, all on artisan-baked Earl's loaf. Our favorite is the Florentine with chicken, spinach, mushrooms and Parmesan. Among breakfast sandwiches is ham with scrambled eggs, spinach and mushrooms. Tomato soup is topped with croutons. Tossed salads such as the Earl's Cobb are served in a bowl or flat-bread wrap. "Just 4 Kids" (no age limit) are turkey, Swiss, grilled cheese and PB&J sandwiches with a beverage. Chocolate banana and mocha latte are among refreshing smoothies. Desserts include cookies and chocolate brownies.
