| Nourishment is not exclusive to gastronomic intake. Appropriately, East Side ShowRoom caters to all your senses with verve, and while the cuisine is worthy of white linens and a haughty maître d', stuffiness is cast aside like an ignoble aspersion. The exposed brick of the 1901 structure holds an eclectic and ever-changing art collection; in fact, the owner-metal sculptor’s skillful craft is evident everywhere. Gypsy jazz bands play while black and white silent movies cement the immersion in the pre-War era’s exuberance. Even with all the stimulation, the food still rises to take center stage. Start classically with a sampling of local cheeses and charcuterie, or pony up to the rich, savory cacciatore served in a coffee cup. The entrée we can never pass up is the pulled lamb shank and leeks in a turnip ragoût. Specials---based on what local farmers and butchers have that day---always add to the dilemma of what to select. The voluminous cocktail menu is equal parts science and art. Syrups, infusions, tinctures and preserves are made in-house. |
