Partners Suzanne Altreche and Brad Burdsall describe their Egg & I as "the next best thing to breakfast in bed"---and that goes for lunchtime, too. Service is friendly and portions hearty. Smoke-free and child-friendly, the cheerful two-tier restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows on two walls. Featuring good coffee and a wide variety of morning choices, including good pancakes (blueberry-cashew is a favorite), five styles of eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros and assorted omelets, the menu truly offers something for everyone. For lunch, we like the chicken-apple-walnut sandwich---a blend of chunky chicken breast, crisp apples, walnuts and mayonnaise served on raisin bread. Cincinnati-style chili (up to five ways) is also popular, as are spinach, Caesar and Cobb salads. |
