| This dark, old-fashioned Mexican restaurant has cultivated a passionately devoted following in Los Feliz. The menu ranges from enchiladas to more imaginative “Especialidades de la Casa.” We recommend anything slathered with mole sauce, even the tender braised beef tongue. The poached Sonora chicken can be dry, but its saving grace is a well-balanced sauce of tomato, bacon, onion, olives and chilies. Pork dishes are succulent, but watch out for the fiery pork chile verde. The classics---tostadas, enchiladas and chile rellenos---are all terrific, and the tasty margaritas are automatically poured as doubles. Save room for the homemade flan. |
