El Taco Veloz Restaurant Review: Launching at this simple freestanding spot, El Taco Veloz expanded to six locations throughout the north metro area. At this outpost, you can order at the drive-through window or at the walk-up counter and then savor your treats at one of the covered picnic tables. (There's nothing in the way of décor.) Well-seasoned grilled or shredded beef, chicken or tongue nestled in a couple of fresh-from-the-griddle corn tortillas is the star (or you may choose flour tortillas). We recommend the carne asada and the barbacoa. Be sure to get them “con todo,” which means “with everything”: onions, a splash of tomatillo salsa, cilantro and pico de gallo. For breakfast, go for chorizo with egg or ham and egg in a torta. On weekends, there's menudo (tripe soup). Desserts include flan and rice pudding. This unit is open until midnight, and until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. No alcohol.
