For a number of years, Lorenze and Alison Tremonti talked about owning an ice cream shop. Now they do, in the historic town of Madison, Ga., about 45 minutes east of Atlanta. A small cup of the gelato certainly is satisfying, especially if it's Great-Grandma Ella's Fudge with its big zones of dark chocolate careening through a vanilla base. Key Lime Pie actually enfolds some graham cracker crust into the mix; we also recommend the Bananas Foster Cheesecake and Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla. Among the sorbetti, we especially liked the mango, which displayed a true, fresh mango flavor. Road trip, anyone?
