Miss Ellen's, as it's called, is famous for its Friday chitlin lunches, but if that specialty doesn't strike your fancy, try big, flavorful slabs of meatloaf with tomato sauce, perfectly crisp and non-greasy fried chicken, tender neck bones and ham hocks, turnip greens and sweet potatoes, all washed down with sweet tea or lemonade and accompanied by hot johnnycakes. This bare bones diner is just around the corner from the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, if you want to learn more about Memphis soul.
