THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Elysee Mandarin Restaurant Review:
This veteran Chinese restaurant is located on stately d’Auteuil Street, right by Old Quebec’s historic fortifications and near the National Assembly, in a building that used to house the Cercle Universitaire private club. This makes for a stylish, wood-paneled décor, overlaid with a variety of Chinese touches, from the small windows opened between the dining rooms to painted screens and sculptures. All the classic dishes are on the menu, from hot-and-sour soup to General Tao chicken, orange beef, Szechuan shrimp and crispy duck. Especially successful are the Singapore-style curried noodles, as well as the moo shu beef with its soft rice pancakes and sweet, unctuous sauce. A short wine list is available, as well as imported and local beers. Take-out is also possible.
