Emeril's Delmonico Restaurant Review

: Creole classics are the theme at Delmonico, but don’t be surprised by a good bit of the modern-day snap for which proprietor Emeril Lagasse is known. Chef Anthony Scanio oversees the kitchen and the menus, and keeps the place adventurous. Standouts on the appetizer menu include the Louisiana crab-stuffed artichoke, and the shrimp-and-ricotta gnocchi. Entrées might range from jerk-spiced Colorado lamb loin to a traditional chicken Clemenceau. Steak options include a bone-in rib-eye and in-house dry-aged New York strip. For dessert, the must-have item is Emeril’s chocolate ice cream doberge cake with pecan pralines. The wine list is complex and takes time to peruse, typical of Emeril’s fine dining restaurants. Lagasse poured more than a few million dollars into transforming this primly elegant, hundred-year-old Creole restaurant into a fantasy of glitz and plush as befits his showman’s legacy. Happy hour (Monday-Friday 5 p.m.-7 p.m.) presents a creative bar menu and specially priced cocktails. New Orleans is a casual town, but you can get dressed up for Delmonico, and plan to linger.
