Epicure Cafe Restaurant Review: Located next to a Houston landmark, the old River Oaks Theater, Epicure Café manages to maintain the air of a well-kept neighborhood secret. The bright, spotless venue features artwork and photography on the walls. On the menu, simple yet well-done dishes include chicken salad with green onions, roasted almonds and yogurt dressing. A selection of sandwiches offers many fine vegetarian choices, like grilled eggplant with goat cheese, spinach and tomatoes, and there’s a pretty decent cheeseburger, too. Hot main courses range from beef goulash to rosemary chicken ravioli. But the real reason to drop in is for a cup of coffee and a dessert: cookies, éclairs, European style cakes and a strawberry napoleon are all standouts. |
