| The ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney is a terrific place for sports fanatics and families to hang out when visiting the Disneyland Resort. The main stadium-style dining room is a dream come true for any sports nut, with a giant flat screen HDTV playing the game of the moment. At least a half dozen other screens surround the big one, with sporting games and events beaming from around the world. The bar serves up stiff cocktails, mostly California wines, bottled beers and some good microbrews on draft. Groups may opt for the appetizer sampler, which offers classic bar items, and specials like pitchers of beer and lots of beef sliders during baseball season. We enjoy the spicy and tender barbecue chicken wings. For mains, we recommend the classic and gourmet burgers, the salmon and the New York strip steak. The “sudden death” brownie dessert appeals to any sweet tooth with its gooey dark chocolate, vanilla ice cream, candied walnuts and chocolate fudge sauce. Need a break from the kids? Send the older ones to the arcade on the second floor. |
