With locations in Cape Town and Durban, as well as London, Famous Fish Company comes to another part of the metro Atlanta area after opening in Peachtree City. The food is inspired by the exotic fare of that glorious cape country, South Africa. The menu is the same as at the Peachtree City location, with the exception that as yet there's no wine list (but that will change). The fish is never frozen, making a major difference in the quality of the result. The shrimp in the lightly curried mayonnaise that fills crusty bread have been frozen, but handled correctly with no loss of quality. Sometimes, these are sourced from African suppliers. Their extraordinary flavor fairly bursts through the sauce. The pans are the specialties stamped with the cooking of South Africa: prawns, shellfish, and maybe a chicken liver or two in various combinations form the crux of these dishes. Rice accompanies these combos. The Peri Peri sauce on the prawn 'n' chicken pot is a bit wussy, in deference to middle-of-the-road tastes, so ask for some extra so you can ratchet up the heat factor and get it closer to authentic. Desserts are now in the hands of a pastry chef. The peach marmalade tart is interesting, but the crust could be crispier.
