The Fat Dog, Los Angeles, CA

The Fat Dog Restaurant Review

: This inviting gastropub features an endearing doggie-oriented décor, particularly through multiple images of English bulldogs (even the wallpaper in the bathroom displays the breeds of the American Kennel Association). Items like a beet salad with chèvre and hazelnut vinaigrette suggest a sophisticated kitchen, while a braised short rib French dip and a hefty sirloin burger with manchego cheese and caramelized onions satisfy big appetites. The mac ‘n’ cheese is accented with jalapeños; crab and bacon can be added to make it more indulgent. Caramel and chocolate bread pudding and banana cream pie provide happy endings. A healthy selection of domestic and imported craft beers is offered, as well as a short, globally-oriented wine list and playfully named cocktails. Naturally, pooches are welcome on the patio. Also located at 11050 Magnolia Blvd., North Hollywood, 818-985-3644.
