Faz Restaurant & Catering Restaurant Review: With restaurants in Oakland, San Jose, Pleasanton, Danville and here in Sunnyvale, chef Faz Poursohi's Mediterranean and Middle Eastern menus have become Bay Area favorites for dine in and catering. For appetizers, the Mediterranean plate offers a grand sampler, with a selection of dips such as hummus, eggplant purée, tabbouleh salad and silky house-smoked salmon napped with a cucumber-cream sauce and capers. Dishes skew Californian; pizzas are topnotch, especially the chicken pesto version. Pastas are good, but better options include almost anything from the grill: pork chops, steak or a burger with the works. Desserts are typical American fare, gooey and on the heavy side.
