The theme for the James Beard Foundation's 2014 awards ceremony is Sounds of the City. In addition to the categories below, the James Beard Foundation also honored "America's Classics," presented by Coca-Cola. This year's restaurants included Hansen’s Sno-Bliz, New Orleans; Nick’s Italian Café, McMinnville, OR; Olneyville New York System, Providence, RI; Perini Ranch Steakhouse, Buffalo Gap, TX; and Sokolowski’s University Inn, Cleveland.

The inductees to the Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America were food writer Edward Behr, chef/restaurateur John Besh, chef/restaurateur David Chang, writer Barry Estabrook, chef/restaurateur Paul Kahan and pastry chef/author
Sherry Yard.
