Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant Restaurant Review: Clusters of artificial grapes festoon a dimly lit space. When your eyes adjust, you’ll see a cross-section of Ventura in the clientele at this locals’ favorite since 1970. And one look at the interior will tell you what’s in store: family-friendly Italian fare, thick and hearty red sauces, the sort of potent garlic bread you can still taste a day later. Kids in baseball uniforms slurp spaghetti noodles and take a stab at the massive meatballs. Parents wash down milk-fed veal Marsala with inexpensive Chianti served in a carafe. Yes, it’s that sort of place, a familiar haven of cheese-smothered entrées and simple salads. By the end of your meal, you’ll be on a first-name basis with your server. After a couple visits they’ll treat you like family.
