Ferré is one of those chic Italian places that makes you wish you had arrived on a Vespa, spouting “Ciao Bella” in all directions. Leather seating, gleaming wood floors and walls the color of an old villa make you think you've landed somewhere between Siena and SoHo. And the food is an ideal match for the surroundings. Start off with caprino torta, a savory hot cheese tart doused with hearty tomato marmalade in a Barolo reduction. Thin crust pizzas, fired in a stone oven in the open kitchen, come with a familiar array of toppings. The standout is the Pollo Salva topped with roasted chicken, fresh mozzarella and sprinkled with fresh sage which infuses the entire pizza. Try the Pasta Tre where you choose from a selection of the homemade stuffed pastas. Sea bass is skillfully pan-seared, drizzled with a tangy lemon-and-herb-infused olive oil. Delightful dining all around, even though they do serve those silly frozen Bellinis.
