| The couple who founded the trio of Figlio restaurants --- Peter and Laurie Danis, both lawyers --- realized most everybody loves pizza and pasta and, if you specialize in a few things, your chances of doing them well are pretty high. The restaurant is modest yet upscale, with a breezy, casual feel, an attractive patio and contemporary bar seating. Among pizzas baked in the wood-fired ovens, we like the wild mushroom with its shiitakes and criminis, Fontina and blue cheeses, scallions and pine nuts; and the Figlio classic topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage and prosciutto, and green peppers, red onions, banana peppers, mushrooms, Parmesan and tomato sauce. Pasta favorites include chicken piccata over linguine and Cajun shrimp. Wines are sourced from boutique wineries around the world. |
