This Notting Hill stalwart was here at the beginning, serving up Pacific Rim fusion fancies to a new breed of trend-setting pioneers when they began heading west at the start of the 1990s. Now that the funky gentrification of Portobello Road is almost complete (give or take the occasional kebab shop and dodgy pub), time has started to catch up and there’s plenty of hot competition in the area. The menu takes a meatier approach, with dishes such as pecan-crusted lamb rump, oven-roasted monkfish with celeriac mash and smoked salmon. Duck is a regular feature, too. The décor is very W11, all wrought-iron, treated wood and candles.
