| This South Indian eatery is known for serving complex, flavorful curries and potato-stuffed dosas (a thin crêpe-like pancake with savory filling). Even the standard dishes are fairly spicy, so the spice-averse should request milder seasonings. Of course, one can always keep a side of raita, a cooling sauce made of yogurt and cucumbers, handy at all times for softening the fiery blow. The diverse menu also offers a large selection of vegetarian items and a handful of Indo-Chinese dishes, such as the crispy gobi Manchurian (fried cauliflower fritters in a spicy gravy). Perhaps the most unusual offerings are the chaat, or street snacks, such as papri chaat (crunchy noodles and wafers mixed with yogurt sauce). For dessert, try the milk balls in rosewater syrup or sweet grated carrots in a butter sauce. There’s no alcohol served at Flavors, but you may bring your own without paying a corkage fee. |
