| Chef Michelle Wilton, whose résumé includes L’Orangerie, Patina and Sona, owns this sleek, modern-styled eatery with artist-husband Corey Wilton---both warm and welcoming. The modest yet stylish décor features Corey’s modern art, and his mother’s hand-blown glass lamps hang from the ceiling. The health-conscious menu features fresh, generously portioned salads (e.g. grilled flank steak salad with apple-shallot-soy vinaigrette, a lightly dressed grilled chicken Caesar with fried capers), and an English pea soup so velvety and flavorful it’s hard to believe it’s vegan. A pressed chicken sandwich derives added heft from Cowgirl Creamery’s Red Hawk triple crème cheese, and a PB&J satisfies the kids. Wilton spent most of her time in pastry kitchens, so her apple tart with shortbread crust or blood orange upside-down cake should not be overlooked. Four Café also makes its own naturally flavored sodas. |
