| A storm of seasonal sensory overload greets diners as they step inside this sophisticated Melville eatery. Glide past the lounge with its lime couches (spring) to the visually stunning bar (summer). The acoustics in the open, wood-lined dining area (autumn) are quite loud. For more intimacy, request the winter room, a partially enclosed igloo-like space filled with booths resembling oversize teacups. The attentive waitstaff is very knowledgeable regarding the menu that changes every 13 weeks. To start, share the cheese fondue with chilled vegetables and apples dipped in warm Gruyère, or the crispy rock shrimp and calamari. Entrées include a slow-braised lamb chop with broccoli rabe, local black sea bass, pappardelle and roasted breast of duck. The wine list includes ten home-grown bottles from Long Island's vineyards. Fluffs of fruit-flavored cotton candy arrive at the end of the meal. |
