FRANK Restaurant Review: Located within the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), which was redesigned by famed architect Frank Gehry, this multi-story dining room is also a showcase for art, with sculptures by Frank Stella and works by Canadian painters Paterson Ewen and Joyce Wieland. Chef Anne Yarymowich is a proponent of the Slow Food movement. As such, her menu features locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Small plates and starters include roasted pork belly with house-made plum-cardamom mustard, red cabbage slaw and brandied prunes, as well as a salad topped with a Stoddart Family Farm organic poached egg and smoked Arctic char. Among mains, contend with grilled Cumbrae’s farm’s skirt steak and frites or roasted buttercup squash and cheddar soufflé with caramelized apples, apple cider reduction and micro seedlings. Conclude your meal with an ice cream "triptych" of brown sugar sour cream, Ratafia prune and crabapple sorbets. The approachable, well-organized wine list focuses exclusively on Ontario selections.
