A Brooklyn favorite, Frankies 457 Spuntino is both a mecca for hipsters and family-friendly at the same time. The sandwiches, unique salads and pasta specials are enough to force even the most hardened Manhattanites to leave the island. For a fresh kick, try the watercress with figs and Gorgonzola. The word “sandwiches” doesn’t do these works of art justice---just try the meatball Parmigiana. Frankies Antipasto---the chef’s choice of meats, cheeses, vegetables and olives---is a fine precursor. Feel free to linger in the homey dining room, which has exposed brick walls and a dark wood bar. During the warmer months, there’s a large, leafy back garden. Service is friendly without being obsequious, and the wine list is ever-changing.
