Franklin's Restaurant, Brewery & General Store Restaurant Review: This Maryland self-styled roadhouse is actually a full-scale family restaurant located in a former hardware store in a building that is a historic site. While the menu includes the full range of American favorites from chicken potpie, dry spice-rubbed ribs and giant burgers, it also tacks on some inventive dishes: coconut curried vegetables, bacon-wrapped meatloaf, and Cajun mac ‘n’ cheese. We like the pulled pork platter, which includes a mountain of slow-cooked pork butt paired with your choice of sides --- go for the mashed potatoes. For fans of house-brewed beer, Franklin's has its own beer master on the premises and a range of funky brews on tap, such as Rubber Chicken Red and Bombshell Blonde. The adjoining general store, which is really a glorified magic tricks-toy shop, will keep you fully occupied long after your name is called for seating.
