Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails Restaurant Review

: Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails presents playful food and drinks on the fifth floor of The Red Lion Hotel on Fifth Avenue. If the weather cooperates, you'll want to enjoy the expansive rooftop patio with its views of downtown and Puget Sound. There are plenty of tables plus a lounge area by the sleek fireplace. Bringing a sense of whimsy to the space are heaters that look like oversized table lamps, orange ping pong tables and shuffleboard. Inside, there's also a lounge area with flat-screen televisions where guests can play Kinect games. Other seating options include bar-height and regular tables, as well as a beautiful blue-lit bar. There are servers at dinner, but breakfast and lunch are counter-service. We recommend making a meal of the arugula and baby beet salad with an add-on of poached salmon. The dinner menu comprises categories like "Shareables" (smoked salmon deviled eggs), "One for All" (chicken pot pie) and “Go Fish” (crab mac & cheese). Desserts keep it simple and comforting, such as the marshmallow cheesecake that has the consistency of mousse. The wine list is limited, so opt for a local beer or cocktail from mixologist Mike McSorley. The Seattle Sazerac spotlights Bourbon whiskey from Capitol Hill's Oola Distillery, while the Splish Splash combines watermelon and vodka with salt and black pepper. Also notable is the tea program provided by local retailer Miro Tea.
