Fuel Café's groovy dining room, the former headquarters of Yellow Cab Co., is bedecked with concrete walls tacked with modern paintings, rolling garage doors that open to an environmentally friendly patio furnished with recycled trappings, and a chalkboard lunch menu that trumpets sandwiches, salads, rotating soups and desserts, all of which are made in-house. But while the lunch menu, which includes one of the city's best Reubens and pan bagnat paved with tuna, briny olives, French green beans and roasted tomatoes, is a draw, it's the seasonally inspired dinners that fuel our culinary passions. Executive chef Bob Blair turns out everything from ravioli filled with squash floating in a savory pork broth bobbing with ovals of chorizo to lamb ragù paired with a risotto cake flecked with arugula leaves. Desserts, like the dinner menu, change on a whim, but the whoopee pies and cupcakes are transcendent.
