| Everyone’s Irish at The Gaf, Molly and Ray Dunlea and Molly’s brother James O’Brien’s Waldo-area pub. The trio took over the former Romanelli Grill space and crafted it into a pub, à la County Cork, Ray’s homeland. The menu is dotted with traditional fare, including a house-made sausage roll starter that’s flecked with black pepper, parsley, garlic and onions tucked inside a pastry dough casing. Even though the eatery is Irish, the Buffalo wings are some of the best in town: crispy, chewy and spicy. Entrées include beef stew with a touch of Guinness in the gravy, shepherd’s pie topped with mashed potatoes and a fine lamb shank. The Irish Gut Bomb is a foolproof hang-over cure: a hand-breaded tenderloin topped with onion rings, applewood-smoked bacon, Irish farmhouse cheddar, fried eggs, Jameson whiskey barbecue sauce, lettuce and tomato. |
