| Gallagher’s décor captures a bit of its New York City parent with dark wood and intriguing old-time celebrity pictures, but none of its panache. The menus are the same but the kitchens, it’s a shame, are not twins. A little more care needs to be taken to see that the high-priced, high-quality steaks are cooked to perfection. Nothing less will justify the expensive tab. Best stick with simpler preparations such as grilled beef, shrimp cocktail and creamed spinach. More ambitious dishes with tempting sauces tend to disappoint. The wine list is notable and geared to steakhouse fare, while the wine service could use some polish. Desserts are largely uninspiring with the possible exception of the caramel cheesecake. |
