| What began as a cozy neighborhood place in inauspicious Davis Square has, like its surroundings, morphed---deservedly---into a hip destination, renowned for its Sunday morning "disco" brunch and an eclectic bar menu that changes regularly. There are large windows and comfy chairs in the bar where, in addition to well-made cocktails, patrons can dine from a café menu rife with whims, from frites cooked in duck fat and smothered in Gouda to Buffalo duck wings. Moving into the subdued dining room, one encounters a quiet zone filled with soft colors and candles, where a savvy crowd delights in the risks talented young chef Jason Santos is known for taking. You may not know exactly what to expect from menu descriptions like “bee-pollen-crusted scallops with boar bacon, Tabasco-soaked cherries and chestnut aïoli” or “tempura caramel shrimp with green tea soba, pumpkin and togarashi broth,” but you sure will enjoy the suspense. |
