THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Gastropod Restaurant Review:

This SoDo mini restaurant is made up of two rooms, barely larger than most studio apartments, but chef Travis Kukull says he likes this because he can constantly communicate with all his guests. The best seats in the house are at the bar wrapping around the open kitchen. "Kitchen" being a loose term, since it’s just a few induction burners and an oven. Beers, brewed on-site by Kukull’s partner, Cody Morris of Epic Ales, pair with tuna collar Reuben sandwiches and Japanese pancakes called okonomiyaki studded with mussels. The beers themselves are hardly traditional, and use ingredients Kukull has often foraged himself. In other words, don't be surprised to find wild watercress or local mushrooms making an appearance. But Gastropod isn’t all shock value. There’s a lot of culinary skill going into the food, which is obvious from desserts such as a mille-crêpe, or a cake made of stacked crêpes.
