| In a city known for good 'cue, Gates is at the front of the line with its savory, saucy slabs. Master-of-Smoke Ollie Gates and his vocal crew have a knack not only for smokin', but also for dishin' out a friendly, "Hi, may I help you?” Diners rally along a fast-paced buffet line, where beef on buns and slabs (dry or wet) are sided with chunky house fries, tangy beans or homemade slaw. Sweet to tart sauces seal the deal. Nothing is fancy; paper plates and fingers do the job nicely. A number of locations are scattered across the metro area, so you'll never have to wander too far off the path to get your fix. Just plan on tucking in that napkin --- there's no chance you'll come out clean with the fine mess of meat, beans and fries that await. |
