Geja's Cafe Restaurant Review

: This stalwart has survived the ebb and flow of trends, going on to remain one of the darkest, most romantic spots citywide. DIY, fondue-style cooking is the game, and you’ll do it --- quite leisurely --- with everything from aged beef tenderloin to lobster and Gulf shrimp. Adding to the allure, there’s often live guitar music. At meal’s end, few things are more fun than dipping strawberries in chocolate with the love of your life. There's a notable wine list, too, with as many as 50 selections by the glass. The restaurant prefers no children under 10 years old.

Being from out of town, I had asked a friend about where to take a date for a romantic dinner; where it would be fun, cozy-with good food, service and wine...Geja's was the reply. Told my date and, she being from Chicago, was thrilled and suggested she make the reservations having been there before. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic setting; her seating choice was a "boothette," a little nook that removes the rest of the restaurant and leaves you and your date in your own world.
We got the full meal package of which there are several varieties and shared the whole platter of the entrees. The full meal comes with salad, a cheese fondue serving, entree serving and then the chocolate dessert serving. With a fine bottle of wine and some after dinner drinks and coffee, it was a wonderful experience and EXACTLY my intention in looking for the setting.
Service is outstanding - never in your face but attentive to refilling the wine glass or changing the flame on the fondue or moving to the next course...we never felt overlooked, but had alone time to talk and cuddle.
Bravo for Geja's.....return customer when I move to Chicago!!!

Awesome night out!
Quirky atmosphere that makes for a fun fondue Friday - or any day!
Service was outstanding - very attentive and friendly, even though it was a busy place on Valentine's weekend.
Totally recommend you try this place...we're going back again!
