| The restaurant is named not for the state in which it’s located but instead for the late Southwestern American artist Georgia O’Keeffe, whose work embodied the warmth and beauty of the New Mexico landscape. Despite that connection, it’s the work of local artist Steve Penley whose bold portraits of well-known figures adorn the walls. Owner Karen Hilliard made her reputation off the lobster enchiladas, so much of the hoopla centers around this one dish. Rich with a cheesy cream sauce and luxurious chunks of lobster meat---and enlivened with a slight kick of spice---this is a must-try. For vegetarians the portobello quesadilla with squash salsa is flavorful and filling. Desserts seem a bit ho-hum. Daily specials are listed at the bottom of the menu, so don’t overlook them. The wine list has become a serious disappointment, leaving one much better off with beer. There’s nothing like a good Negra Modelo with this food anyway. |
