Former NFL linebacker Gary Brackett set out to establish an old-fashioned supper club for friends to meet at the bar for drinks and appetizers and for families to gather for Southern fare. He succeeded with Georgia Reese's Southern Table & Bar, a tony restaurant with dark wood décor, live jazz and soul food with an attitude. Watch the game from the bar with a draft beer or apple martini, alongside a cup of alligator stew or creamy shrimp and grits. Settle in the dining room for a shrimp po' boy, a Hot Brown, buttermilk-dipped fried chicken and waffles, or Southern-fried catfish. Sides star with such choices as mac ‘n’ cheese, collard greens, okra and sweet potato casserole. Georgia's triple layer peach cobbler is a sure dessert winner along with the sweet potato cheesecake. The bartender is adept at making standout cocktails. Sundays bring a brunch buffet complete with live music.
