Every Giorgio restaurant differs slightly in style, but each delivers a similar experience, where at first you are intimidated by the suave, fashionable interior before being complete won over by Giorgio Cherubuini's intense hospitality. The Hennepin Avenue location is intimate and romantic, the Lake Street location more oriented towards its dark wine bar, and the Edina store experiments with a different regional cuisine each season, but every Giorgio offers the same basic mix of inventive pastas, pizzas and savory small courses. An small course might be a piquant dry marinated duck breast served with mustard sauce or a creamy butternut squash ravioli tossed in a Gorgonzola cream sauce. Pastas might come with garlic pork sausage, calamari, or something as simple as grilled chicken. Desserts are standouts, especially the lemon tart in summer and the chocolate meringue cake in the winter. Couples on a first date might want to be careful, as Giorgio's has a way of lighting people for amore.
