Giorgio's Restaurant Review: Giorgio's bears the distinct imprint of owner Giorgio Kawas, who still personally greets most guests. A native of Northern Italy, he has built his namesake establishment on that region's culinary heritage, and also tapped into French and Northwest influences. The quiet, classy dining room with black and white floors and butter-colored walls is comforting and elegant. Menus change frequently. Starters may include a version of Caesar salad made with romaine, bottarga and Parmesan, or braised artichokes with buffalo mozzarella and pistachio oil. Order any of the pastas, all handmade daily, such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù, or garganelli with caramelized garlic, asparagus and forest mushrooms. We also recommend the lamb, chicken and fish dishes. If fish is a particular favorite, get the cod cakes or bay scallops. For dessert, sample the cinnamon donuts with ice cream or a homemade cannoli. The 75-bottle wine list features selections from France, Italy and Oregon. Pearl District shoppers and art viewers will be tempted by the late-afternoon bar menu with tasty bites at reasonable prices. Service is professional.
