Giorgio's Restaurant Review: Giorgio's is an elegant restaurant that may not attract the same attention as some of its glitzier Pearl District neighbors, but it has cultivated its own group of regulars since opening in 2000. Owner Giorgio Kawas grew up in Northern Italy and that region’s culinary heritage is the foundation of his namesake establishment. The menu changes daily, reflecting the seasons, the chef’s interests, and the availability of local, organic ingredients. Starters may include well-prepared green salads or butter bean soup. Try any of the homemade pastas, such as pumpkin-black truffle ravioli or pappardelle with wild boar. Kawas also offers lamb, chicken and fish dishes, perhaps black bass with a lemony artichoke purée, sunchokes and nettles. For dessert, we suggest the cinnamon donuts with homemade ice cream. The 75-bottle wine list features vintages from France, Italy and Oregon. Pearl District shoppers and art viewers are tempted by the late-afternoon bar menu with its tasty bites at reasonable prices. Personal service is a hallmark.
