If authentic, exotic Chinese food is your desire, eat where Portland’s Chinese-American locals eat. The décor is austere, strictly tables and chairs, but the food is like nothing most people have ever seen. Along with the expected Chinese fare that you can get anywhere, the chefs here provide some dramatic departures. The chow mien can be enhanced with fragrant winter garlic; the pigs' feet are served with jellyfish. The seafood is especially well done, with abalone, fresh crab and live lobster usually available. The beverage list veers off the beaten path as well; for a change, try a taro tapioca cooler.
