Grand Concourse Restaurant Review: The Grand Concourse restaurant occupies the renovated 1901-built P&LE Railroad Station. The main dining room (the former train station concourse) boasts a glorious Tiffany stained glass vaulted ceiling and a grand staircase. Marble, brass and mahogany underscore the architecture’s Edwardian splendor. In the glass-enclosed River Room, large windows frame the city’s dramatic riverfront views. The menu presents an array of seafood, pasta, poultry and beef. But the specialty is Sunday brunch --- an all-you-can-eat buffet, offering everything from fresh fruit to carved roast beef --- and especially sweet temptations from the in-house pastry chef. This restaurant is high volume, able to serve well over 600 guests. Don’t expect superlative food. The ambience is the highlight. The extensive wine list offers mostly new-world bottles, with a price point for everyone. |
