Half & Half Restaurant Review: What’s a restaurant to do when its customers love brunch but there are only two weekend days to offer it? Half & Half solves the dilemma by expanding the brunch vibe to dinner. Items from the ever-changing brunch menu --- turkey melts with caramelized onion jam, chile-marinated chicken tacos and spinach-mascarpone omelets --- make for a tasty meal any time of the day. Golden orbs of sunny-side-up eggs adorn the best breakfast entrées, most notably the salmon-potato hash but also biscuits and gravy, chorizo and cornbread, steak and eggs and fried chicken livers. For marginally lighter breakfast fare, look to citrus-sugar donuts, oven-baked oatmeal, raspberry-studded mascarpone pancakes and ham biscuits with fruit preserves. Coffees are brewed with the goal of seasonal bean appreciation rather than straight caffeine consumption. Weekends see more sales of beer, wine and cocktails, like the bourbon-chai punch, all good choices when faced with the almost-inevitable wait for a table.
