Hartstone Inn Restaurant Review: Just steps away from Camden's harbor, the Hartstone Inn is surrounded by gardens and little pockets of solitude. Overnight guests dine each morning on pastries, waffles and seasonal egg dishes, but all are welcome at dinner for a five-course meal during the week that might include asparagus custard with Maine lobster and herb-baked tomatoes and grilled bistro steak with roasted pepper béarnaise. The salmon encrusted with sweet potato features another Maine ingredient --- blueberries --- in the beurre blanc, and there's a touch of the exotic in coconut soufflé with vanilla bean crème anglaise. The wine list covers California quite well and there is a good selection of German wines, rare on a New England list. Have a walk around the grounds after dinner and come back for a drink in the inn. |
