Haveli Restaurant Review: Open since the 1980s, this Haveli outpost is one of the few downtown restaurants offering lunch on Saturday and dinner on Sunday. The kitchen tones down the spice level on the buffet preparations versus the same dishes off the dinner menu, although the spiced potatoes might get your attention. Most buffet offerings, also included on the regular dinner menu, are vegetarian, but two meat dishes are always presented, typically chicken and goat. Fried fish is thin and crispy, nice with a dab of the very good raita. Haveli buffets don't present nearly the variety of dishes other Indian restaurants do at lunch, and it's more expensive than most ($12). For dessert, try the rice pudding or the intriguing carrot pudding. Beer, a full bar and a minimal wine selection are available.
