Haven Riverfront Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review: Situated just 20 feet from the Hudson River, this dramatic restaurant boasts floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides so every patron can enjoy the view. Chef Peter Larsen, a veteran of such New York City restaurants as The Goodwin, Artisanal and Town, has created a menu with interesting features such as mac ‘n’ cheese "Parisienne" --- a surprising rendition of the iconic comfort food favorite bathed in a four-cheese mornay sauce and topped with braised veal cheeks, morels and brioche bread crumbs; and warm octopus salad with pickled watermelon radishes and crushed hazelnuts dressed with Meyer lemon vinaigrette. Entrées are prepared with a generous hand. Roasted organic salmon with savoy cabbage-pearl onion-apple ragoût, crispy guanciale (Italian jowl bacon), and pickled sea buckthorn --- all adorned with a foamy bacon emulsion --- fills the oversize plate. The dessert list is short but appealing. A favorite is the salted caramel ice cream sundae with malt foam, chocolate granola and peanuts, dripping with butterscotch. The wine list is well chosen and appropriate for the menu.
