With its encyclopedic menu, hyperbolic space and comically brusque service, Hee Hing remains a Honolulu favorite. The menu has a distinct Americanized edge but, you can get a pleasant Cantonese meal here. Come lunchtime, Hee Hing serves some five dozen types of dim sum, an admirable selection. At dinner, the dishes grow more serious, with the sound of platters of sizzling seafood filling the air and the smells of drunken prawns, lobster and crab in black bean sauce, whole fish in sweet-and-sour sauce, crackling chicken, and a multitude of fried rice and pan-fried noodle dishes filling the room. Go with a large group if you can---the more the merrier and the heartier the feast. A good value, it's a short jaunt from most Waikiki hotels.
